About Spice Safaris
spice safaris tours india A Special trip
"You made the tour friendly and for more comfortable (in comparison to other tours) and the range of experiences was much wider. (The accommodation) in one word - excellent. (And) of course, the food! It agreed with me..it was healthier (and) so different to (Indian) restaurant food in Australia"
Pat. Yowie Bay, NSW
"I think Andre has found his role in life....he became our friend, he involved us in his world in order to help us understand India and Indian people....he made sure we all fulfilled the reason why WE were travelling through India."

spicesafaris india group tou Spice Safaris – a taste of India on tour, is the dreamchild of Andre Rasquinha
“I have lived in Australia for 12 years and am a proud Australian citizen. Yet there will always be a strong connection with the land of my birth – India. Most Australians are fascinated with India – the destination, its history and culture, its food and the Taj Mahal. Over the years a desire to show people the magic of the India I know and the need to reconnect with it has grown, culminating in Spice Safaris”
Andre Rasquinha – Owner and Tour Escort, Spice Safaris.

Andre is a qualified chef having attained his Diploma in Hotel Management in Mumbai. He then completed an intensive Kitchen Management traineeship with the Sheraton affiliated Welcomgroup chain of hotels. Here he spent time in the kitchens of such Masters as Imtiaz Qureshi (Dum Pukht), the late Madanlal Jaiswal (Bukhara – Delhi and New York) and Pappiah (Dakshin). He has worked in prestigious hotels and restaurants in both India and Australia.
Andre with Greg (Shantaram) It doesn't take much to get Andre excited and fired up about Indian food.
“ Indian food is an Art – a complex blend of herbs and spices that brings out the flavours of the ingredients. The Indian food that we enjoy in Australia is just the tip of the iceberg. It really is the food of Punjab (North India). Indian food is so much more – the crispness of a dosai, the coarse yet creamy texture of a Xacuti, the piquance of a Lal Maas, the subtle flavours of a Sofayani Biryani – the list is endless. It has been refreshing to see in the last 5 years, Indian restaurants in Australia being run by chefs that are more adventurous in their menus. This means that finally we are starting to see the real variety of Indian cuisine in restaurants such as – Viva Goa and, Zaaffran in Sydney and Gogo's Madras Curry House in Perth. True Indian Master Chefs are known for their inventiveness and creativity not for just sticking to the tried and tested”

What Andre promises on his tours is an experience that combines the sights, sounds and the exquisite food of this ancient land rich in history and culture. Add to this his persona, knowledge, experience, skills and the stories he has to tell and you have - Spice Safaris – A Taste of India on Tour - an experience of a lifetime!
